Eating Clean Does Not Equal Eating Right

If I had a pound for every time I heard the words, ‘my diet is pretty good, I eat pretty clean’, I probably wouldn’t be writing this blog.

For a start, eating clean is a misnomer. Why don’t we just call it what it is? Which is eating less crap.

Even if we recognise it as a term, there is a big difference between eating well, or clean, and eating right, for your individual requirements.

We should all good quality foods, absolutely, but there will come a point where just ‘eating clean’, will not get you where you want to be, especially as you get further along your journey.

Sure, low carb, moderate protein and high fat diets work well for fat loss, but that does not mean that adding butter to coffee, eating two avocados and day and rubbing yourself from tip to toe in coconut oil is a good idea.

Clean or otherwise, every food is a calorie load and is not ‘free’. Too much fat, the good sort or not, will make you fat. As will too many carbs. As will too much of anything in fact, regardless of how ‘natural’ it is.

What we really need is the right food, in the right amounts

And we need to stop thinking about particular foods in isolation. There are no such thing as good and bad foods, particularly when looked at outside of the broader diet.
